Winter is no longer coming, as it is now here with flurries of snow appearing around the country.

Kia ora and welcome to Saturday and the first official day of winter!

The weather forecast for today is showing a few showers ahead but clearing overnight. It's a three-clothing-layer day with an expected high of 14 and an overnight of 5 degrees. Make sure to keep warm if heading outdoors as the westerly winds will be fresh at times.

On Sunday June 2, we're expecting a fine day in the morning with southwesterlies. Monday is also looking like it will be fine, again with southwest breezes.

Do you like hip hop? Come along and watch young people compete at the Project 2019 Youth Hip Hop Dance Competition at Trustpower Baypark from 1pm to 9.30 today, and 1pm-10.30pm on Sunday. More information here

Tauranga Roller Skating Club are holding a fundraising barbecue at Mitre 10 Mega in Cameron Rd from 9am – 4pm. Come and say hi, grab yourself a sausage on this chilly day, and support this great club.

The 2019 American Model Railroad Association convention is being held this weekend at the Tauranga Yacht Club at Sulphur Point. More here

Tauranga City Basketball Association are hosting the TCBA Tribes Tournament in partnership with SAS Sport at QEYC on the corner of 11th Ave and Devonport Rd. This tournament is for adults. On Sunday June 2 come and see the 5pm NBL Game between the Waitakere Supercity Rangers & Tasmanian Huskies.

The Little Big Market have been postponed from Saturday the 1st of June to Sunday the 2nd of June, due to strong winds. The market will still be held at Coronation Park in the Mount and will still be running from 9am - 2pm.

At the Tauranga Art Gallery from 2-3pm Friends of Tauranga Art Gallery member, Doreen McNeill will lead a demonstration and discussion of her abstract paintings. For more information click here
