A motorcyclist has been injured after hitting a fence in Papamoa on Friday evening.

Police were called to the crash on Pompallier Lane, near Simpson Rd, Papamoa, around 8.45pm.

"A motorbike reportedly collided with a fence," says a Police spokesperson. "St John were also called."

A SunLive reporter says there are three Police cars and an ambulance at the scene.

"The rider was conscious and being looked after by ambulance staff, taken away in the ambulance to hospital.

"The fence is quite damaged. I've been told the motorbike is a brand new 2019 model."
