NZTA are advising motorists to adopt an alternative route this weekend if travelling north on SH2 towards Mount Maunganui.
There are major delays today near the Bayfair Roundabout due to roadworks causing traffic congestion.
Motorists are advised to consider an alternative route on SH2 between Sandhurst Dr and Girven Rd.
The recommended detour is to exit at Sandhurst Dr and turn right, then left onto Maranui St, followed by turning right onto Yale St, left onto Oceanbeach Rd, then left onto Concord Ave and back onto SH2.

Sounds like their doing a lane drop after the roundabout... just means traffic as normal as the main issue is the bay park roundabout from bayfair side is basically one lane atm with that slip lane closed
