Running festival at the Mount

Next Saturday, Mount Maunganui will be the location for a popular running festival, requiring some lane closures along the seaside course.
Hundreds of runners will be taking part in the Mount Maunganui Half Marathon and other races on Saturday August 24.
The running festival includes the 21km half marathon, as well as 10km and 5km options.
The 5km race begins at 8am, the 10km race at 8.15am, and the 21 km race at 8.30am, all starting and finishing at the Mount Maunganui Main Beach. All finishers will receive medals, and spot prizes and awards will be presented at Main Beach at 12.30pm.
During the races, there will be road closures in place around Mount Maunganui.
From 7am to 11am on Saturday Surf Rd at Omanu will be closed.
The seaward side of Ocean Beach Road and the seaward side of Marine Parade will have lane closures from 7.30am – 12pm.

The Mauao side of Adams Avenue from The Mall to Marine Parade, and the seaward side of The Mall from Adams Avenue to Salisbury Avenue will have lane closures from 7.30am – 1pm.

Traffic will be able to make a left turn onto Ocean Beach Road, Marine Parade and The Mall, but no right turn will be available for the duration of the closure.



If you are planning to catch a bus, please be aware that to ensure a safe running course there will be lane closures. These will affect the bus services during the event, between 6am and 2pm. For more information, please visit www.baybus.co.nz or call 0800 BAYBUS (229 287).

There will be parking restrictions in place along the seaward side of Ocean Beach Road, Marine Parade and The Mall from 6.30am to 1pm, to ensure a safe running course. There will also be parking restrictions in place along Marine Parade on Wednesday August 21 for event set up the following day.
