A bust water main at a shopping complex in Tauranga spark a fire callout this morning.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern fire communications shift manger Colin Underdown says the Papamoa Brigade was called to Papamoa Plaza around 6am.

He says there was significant flooding in a common space of the shopping centre.

Colin says a fire appliance and a support vehicle remained at the scene to help clear the water out.

It's unclear if there is any significant damage as a result of the flooding.
