Two-car crash near Morrinsville, three injured

Police were called to a two-vehicle collision on State Highway 26 at Morrinsville early Saturday morning.

Three people have been taken to hospital - one with critical injuries, the others moderate.

Police report they were called to the collision about 3.10am. The Serious Crash Unit was also notified.

As a result of the crash NZTA has closed State Highway 26 near Morrinsville between Piako Rd and Avenue North Rd. A detour is in place, via Kuranui Rd and Avenue Rd.

Northbound: Turn right on to Kuranui Rd, then left on to Avenue Rd, then right on to SH26. Southbound: Northbound in reverse.

It is unknown when the road will be reopened, so is closed until further notice.
