Kia ora and welcome to Sunday

Today we are expecting cloudy periods until mid-afternoon, then fine, with light winds and sea breezes.

It's a one-clothing layer day, with an expected high of 20 and an overnight low of 9 degrees. Sunset is at 7.37pm.

Tomorrow, Monday, cloudy periods and a few showers are forecast, but mainly fine around the middle of the day, with northwesterlies.

The Bay of Plenty Home Show is on at the Trustpower Arena Baypark today and Sunday from 10am – 5pm. Tickets only $10. More here

It's a perfect day for the Base Up Omokoroa Coastal Challenge - OCC - with runners and walkers taking to the paths, reserve and walkways at Omokoroa to compete and raise funds for local community organisations. More here

Are you safe in the water? There is a free water safety community day at the Aquatic and Fitness Centre, Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology from 8am – 2pm. Join the Tauranga Swim School team and friends for this free water safety event. A day of fun, learning and activities, gain more knowledge, understanding and learn skills to equip yourself and your children to be safer in and around the water.

Get beach ready with Baywave from 10am – 12pm today. BaySwim is celebrating the start of summer with Mount Surf Club coming to Baywave. From 10am – 12pm surf lifeguards will be on the beach and in the waves, with a chance to high five a lifeguard, sit in an IRB, try floating in lifejackets, and practise swimming between flags on the ‘beach' at Baywave. The Bethlehem Te Puna Lions are running the Historic Village market today in 17th Ave, from 8am – 12pm.

The Incubator at Tauranga Historic Village are also showing 15 artists with ‘Exhibition of Exhibitions'.

The Kids, Bumps & Babies Market is being held at the Waipuna Park Pavilion, 25 Kaitemako Rd, Welcome Bay from 9.30am – 12.30pm. This market is held on the third Sunday of each month.

Macandmor Gallery are showing paintings by Lorraine Bailey. The gallery, in the Goddard Centre, Devonport Rd, is open today. More here

A Tauranga Heritage Collection photographic exhibition by Adrienne Martyn sponsored by Tauranga Peugeot acknowledging the ancient legends of Poutini, Mata and Hinehoanga is on at Kowhai Interiors & Art Gallery at the 11th Ave Plaza. The exhibition is titled ‘Kaikauhoe Pounamu Taonga o Tauranga Moana' and runs from 9.30am – 2pm, until November 2. More here
