The exclusion zone for boaties around the Rena wreck at Astrolabe Reef is reduced to two nautical miles.
The harbourmaster has determined an exclusion zone of two nautical miles is enough to enable salvage work at the wreck to continue safely and without hindrance from non-salvor vessels.
The exclusion zone is also intended to keep vessels away from areas known to contain navigational safety hazards such as containers and debris from the Rena.
There are also temporary exclusion zones of 200m radius from any beached or floating containers from the Rena wreck, or salvage vessels.
Anyone found in the exclusion zone without the express permission of the harbourmaster may be prosecuted.

Maybe the Harbour master and the fisheries officers should do some raids and see all the fishing that is going out there inside the exclusion zone by contractors being paid to work on the Rena Project,,,,out of towners being paid good coin to over fish one of the Bays best known grounds.....
