T20 sudden deaths made

The cancellation of the Lonestar Tauranga & Rotorua Twenty20 competition on Saturday due to the saturated outfields at Fergusson Park in Tauranga has set up two potential sudden death matches between Baywide heavyweights Otumoetai Cadets and Mount Maunganui in the next three weekends.

Both Western Bay sides will be looking to add to the silverware in their respective trophy cabinets during remaining weekends in March.

Mount Maunganui is the defending Baywide champion of champions and Williams Cup titleholder while Cadets recently won the 2012 ND Club Championship.

A neutral venue at Fergusson Park next Sunday will host the last round of the Baywide T20 where the two Western Bay archrivals will square off with the victor earning a T20 finals berth.

It is also very likely that Cadets and Mount Maunganui could battle out the final of the Williams Cup on the last weekend in March.

While Mount Maunganui have already grabbed a home semi-final berth, Cadets should beat Greerton next weekend to host the other semi-final – with both teams then being heavily favoured to progress to the Williams Cup final stanza.
