The Te Puke Memorial Pool is currently closed to the public.
As a result of heavy rain and a power supply outage at the Te Puke Pool the underground plant room was flooded on Christmas Day, says a Western Bay of Plenty District Council spokesperson.
'The pool has been closed since due to the pump motor short circuiting and will have to remain closed for at least another 10 days.”
Western Bay of Plenty District Council has emergency work being done over the next 48 hours to rewind the motor, the say.
'Once the current motor is rewound it will be re-installed, which we hope will be by this Friday 3 January.
'The pool will then have to be treated and filtered before being reopened for public use. We anticipate this being at the end of next week.
'Council appreciates the patience of pool users while work continues to get this important job done.”
