The Papamoa Hills Regional Park is open again following a temporary closure due to poor weather conditions on Tuesday.
The park was closed for about two hours due to high winds.
Bay of Plenty Regional Council land resources manager Robyn Skelton says the high winds made it unsafe for people to walk the trails leading to the summit.
'The walk to the summit of the Papamoa Hills Regional Park is spectacular, but the peak is more than 220 metres above sea level so it is also affected by changing weather conditions.
'The safety of park users is paramount to the regional council so we took the precaution of temporarily closing the Papamoa Hills Regional Park early last night, and reopening when the wind had eased around midday on Tuesday.”
