Man to appear in court following dangerous driving

A man is due to appear in Tauranga Court tomorrow on charges of driving in a dangerous manner, driving while disqualified and failing to stop when followed by Police. File photo.

A man was arrested after driving dangerously in Tauranga streets in the early hours of Sunday morning, and will be appearing in Tauranga Court on Monday.

Police pursued a vehicle after it failed to stop for Police in Tauranga at 1.39am this morning.

SunLive readers woken by sirens in the early hours of Sunday morning report that Police cars were seen and heard around the Bethlehem, Cambridge Heights, Judea and Brookfield areas.

'Cop cars have been flying up Waihi road in the last few minutes,” wrote one reader to SunLive at 1.56am.

Another wrote that it was nearly half an hour of continual sirens after 2am, while another says they heard still heard sirens going around 3.14am.

The driver was apprehended by Police near Fraser St.
