Braemar Howells has released the location of the suspected sunken containers from the Rena - more than six months after the container ship struck the reef.
Charter Boat Association vice president Russ Hawkins says operators have repeatedly requested the information and Tauranga Chamber of Commerce has pursued this in their interest.
A location of seabed containers from the Rena.
'We have asked for it for some time,” says Russ today.
'It doesn't affect me anywhere like it does the trawlermen, but I have plotted them all just in case I anchor there and get caught up.”
The sunken containers pose a danger to trawlers, which could lose, or significantly damage hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of fishing equipment if their trawler nets become snagged on a container.
