Baywide fourth round heats up

Katikati and Arataki Black retain unbeaten season records heading into the fourth round of the Seeka KI Western BOP championship today.

While both teams will be favoured to continue their unblemished record there a number of contenders snapping at their heels.

With just a solitary point between five teams who are just off the pace there is plenty at stake for the top seven contenders this weekend.

The big improver this year has been Greerton Marist, who has picked up bonus points to good effect to sit in the middle of the pack. They could make life difficult for Mount Maunganui at Greerton Park, as the Mount attempt to put last week's narrow 21-19 loss to Tauranga Sports behind them.

The Mount second fifteen have won several Western Bay championships in the last decade, and are the defending Baywide Reserve Grade titleholders, and will be desperate to restore there prominent place on the standings.

Competition front-runners Katikati and Arataki Black will both be heavily favoured to continue their unbeaten start to the season. Arataki meet Te Puke Sports at Grenada Park with Katikati hosting Arataki Red at Moore Park.

Tauranga Sports, who showed their championship aspirations, when they defeated archrivals Mount Maunganui last weekend, should prove too strong for Te Puna in the curtain raiser at Maramatanga Park.

Eastern Districts will have a good chance to post there first win of the season, when Judea pays a visit to the Paengaroa Domain. Matakana Island should have little trouble with bottom placed Rangiuru on the Island, with Papamoa and Rangataua likely to engage in an even battle at Papamoa headquarters.
