A truck driver is in serious condition after rolling into a ditch in the Eastern Bay of Plenty this morning.

A police spokesperson says the driver is trapped in the vehicle at the intersection of State Highway 30 and Braemar Road.

Police received reports at around 9.30am.

"Traffic management is in place and a helicopter has been dispatched."

The spokesperson confirmed the road is not blocked.

A St John spokesperson says one patient is currently in serious condition.

She says an ambulance and a fire crew are at the scene.
