The Omokoroa cycleway will be temporarily closed next week.

Earth works are commencing on the Omokoroa to Tauranga Cycleway at the end of Lynley Park Drive from Monday June 29, says a statement from the Western Bay of Plenty District Council.

One section of the cycle way is being realigned and the gradient improved to make less steep, says the statement.

These works 'will improve the experience and safety for all users through this busy section of the track,” says the statement.

'It is expected to take up to four weeks depending on weather. Trail users are asked to detour across the grass, around the fencing.”

There is also a complete trail closure on another section of the trail for two to three days so erosion repair work can be undertaken.

'Unfortunately there will be no access past this narrow section at Work Zone 2 from June 30 to July 2, however it is possible that the trail will be open again before next weekend."
