One killed in Tauranga crash

UPDATE 2.41PM: One person is dead following a crash in Tauranga today.

"Police can confirm one person has died following a single-vehicle collision on the intersection of Cameron Road and Arundel Street," says a police spokesperson.

"Emergency services were notified to the crash at around 12:41pm.

"The Police investigation is ongoing."

Police had earlier said that a person had been hit by a vehicle on Cameron Road.

EARLIER:

Emergency services are at the scene of a crash on Cameron Road in Tauranga.

The caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there is a crash on Cameron Road, at the intersection Arundel Street.

The caller says police and other emergency services are at the scene.

A reporter at the scene says St John Paramedics are at the scene, along with a couple of police cars.

"No lanes are blocked. There is also a police photographer at the scene.

"It is opposite Tauranga Primary School."

A police spokesperson says they were notified at 12.41pm of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on the intersection of Cameron Road and Arundel Street.

"Emergency services are in attendance."
