A man has been arrested in Tauranga following a vehicle search where Police found a firearm and ammunition.

"There was a search of a vehicle yesterday where a firearm and ammunition was located," says a Police spokesperson.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested.

"He is appearing in the Tauranga Court tomorrow [Monday] facing a number of charges including unlawfully carry/possess firearm/restricted weapon and unlawfully carry/possess firearm/ammunition."
