One person is dead following a crash between a car and motorbike.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Piako Road, near Morrinsville, at 3.55pm on Tuesday.

A police spokesperson has confirmed that one person has died following the crash.

The road was closed for several hours to allow the serious crash unit to examine the scene.

It was reopened around 8pm.

Investigations into the crash are continuing.
