Bay of Plenty Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle who led officers on a pursuit this afternoon.

Police attempted to stop a car that was being driven without a licence plate on Awakeri Road in Edgecumbe around 1pm.

'The car failed to stop for police and was briefly pursued before the officer lost sight of it,” says a police spokesperson.

'It looks like we checked the surrounding areas to see if we could locate it again, but did not do so.”

Anyone with information about the vehicle can contact their nearest police station.
