Police seek Mole and Chicken robbers

Taupo Police are seeking the public's help to find two men involved in an aggravated robbery at the Mole and Chicken restaurant in Taupo on Monday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Todd Pearce says the vehicle stolen from a staff member during the robbery and used as a get-away vehicle – a red 1993 Holden Commodore ute – was located the day after the robbery on Rahui St near the Pataka intersection.

'The stolen ute was found late in the afternoon in Rahui street on Tuesday, May 8, but we cannot be absolutely sure at what stage it was dropped there.

'It is however possible that this is where a second vehicle may have been parked before the robbery, and is where the offenders may have later switched vehicles.”
Todd is asking for any sightings of the parked vehicles or people in this area on Monday afternoon and evening and potentially Tuesday.

He says any information could prove invaluable in helping find those responsible for this robbery.

Todd says the stolen vehicle was being examined as part of the investigation.

'Police have no doubt that someone in our community knows who has committed this robbery.

'I ask to them to contact us, anonymously if required, to help us get these dangerous offenders off our streets.”

Information can be provided directly to Taupo Police, ph (07) 378 6060 or anonymously through Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
