The public, fans and supporters are encouraged to come and cheer on the Bay of Plenty Steamers as they take on Canterbury this afternoon at the Tauranga Domain, with kick-off at 2.05pm.

Earlier in the day prior to the much anticipated Steams v Canterbury game, there will be plenty more rugby to watch with FMG Boys Rural XV playingThames Valley Rural XV at 11.45am, and Bay of Plenty Toa playing Counties Manukau U20 at noon.

The Steamers coaching team have named their side to play Canterbury in the Farmer Autovillage Festival of Rugby today thanks to match day sponsors Farmer Autovillage in association with Sign Biz and Three Dukes Homes.

Nathan Vella and Leory Carter are both set to play their blazer games (15th game) to earn themselves their Steamers blazer.

The curtain raiser game will be between the FMG Boys Rural XV and Thames Valley Rural XV teams kicking off at 11.45am on field 1. The FMG Boys Rural XV team is selected from rural Bay of Plenty Secondary School players and will be coached by Aaron Bidois, Steve Axtens and Steve McGregor.

Bay of Plenty Toa will be also playing at the Domain over on field 2 at 12.00pm in what will be their final game of the season against Counties Manukau U20, entry to field 2 is by game day ticket only.

Saturday's match day charity is Wish4Fish, who provide individuals with a physical or mental disability, an illness or financial hardship, access and opportunity to enjoy the freedom and pleasure of our ocean waters.

"We use fishing as the prime vehicle to achieve this goal, an approach unique to Wish4Fish. Please give generously to Wish4Fish with cash donations at the game," says a Bay of Plenty Rugby spokesperson.

disruption

once again the center of town will be totally disrupted by having this game there. streets blocked off no parking very few facilities for the disabled. no shelter hard seats. the only ones to profit with this debarcle are the pubs downtown. spend some money on baypark and they would have a world class venue

Brilliant result!
