A hostel at Ōtorohanga College has been closed as a precaution out of fear whānau members were possibly exposed to a person who the school says has tested positive for Covid-19.
A post on the the Waikato school's Facebook page says "a positive COVID case was on a flight out of Wellington to Hamilton" where the exposure could have happened.
It said the whānau members then attended a community meeting in Kawhia.
"As a precaution, and in the interest of keeping safe, we are asking everyone who has had contact with anyone at the meeting to urgently get Covid tested and to isolate until you get a negative test.
"The hostel will be temporarily closed until we can ensure it is safe to reopen."
It says anyone who had had contact with people in the area's coastal communities in the past day should get tested and remain isolated.
