Powerco field crews have been out in force in the Tauranga region, restoring power to customers affected by outages caused by rough weather.
Outages that occurred during the evening of Tuesday include: Te Puke where 587 customers lost power at 5.19pm, following a lightning strike.
"All customers had their power restored by 7.51pm," says a spokesperson for Powerco.
"Gate Pa, where 1408 customers lost power at 5.31pm with power restored by 7.10pm. After a site investigation to determine the cause, we suspect that this was due to the high winds, heavy rain and lightning at the time the outage occurred.
"Another 1111 Gate Pa customers lost power at 6.36pm, with power restored shortly after by 6.58pm."
Powerco says there are still outages reported in the region this morning.
In Te Puke, 252 customers lost power at 10.20am on Tuesday morning following a lightning strike.
"The majority of customers had their power restored by 9.41pm last night, however, 28 remaining customers without power are estimated to have it restored by 3pm this afternoon.
"In Welcome Bay, 11 customers lost power at 6.16pm Tuesday evening. Power is currently estimated to be restored by 11.30am.
"Crews are working to restore supply to customers as quickly and safely as possible.
"Powerco thanks customers for their continued patience."
