The Bay of Plenty Steamers have secured third place in the Mitre 10 Cup Premiership with their loss to Tasman in the semifinal on Saturday.

The full time score of 19 to 10 to the Tasman side meant that although BOP didn't get the win, they should feel proud of what they've achieved this season after coming up from the Championship this year.

For Tasman, it means they progress on to the final next week against Auckland, which sees the two best teams in the competition compete for the title.

Tasman 19 (Quentin MacDonald, Leicester Fainga'anuku tries, Mitch Hunt 3 pens) Bay of Plenty 10 (Joe Webber try, Kaleb Trask con). HT: 13-7
