Two patched Mongrel Mob members are facing a raft of charges following armed police raids in the Waikato.
Search warrants executed in Hamilton on Thursday have resulted in the seizure of firearms and drugs, along with the arrest of the two gang members.
The Waikato Organised Crime Team, with support from the AOS, completed five search warrants targeting Mongrel Mob-linked addresses across the Hamilton region.
A 38-year-old man is facing charges of participating in an organised criminal group, conspiracy to supply methamphetamine and possession of cannabis for supply.
A 22-year-old man is charged with perverting the course of justice, possession of methamphetamine for supply, unlawful possession of a pistol, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, supplying MDMA (Class B) and possession for supply of MDMA (Class B).
The pair were due to appear in the Hamilton District Court on Thursday.
'Today's warrants saw the seizure of firearms, ammunition, cash, methamphetamine, cannabis and the recovery of a stolen Harley Davidson motorcycle,” says Detective Inspector Graham Pitkethley.

'Our focus steadfastly remains on organised crime groups who profit by supplying methamphetamine to the most vulnerable members of our community.
'We know that greed continues to be a driver for these offenders who push drugs and suck money from those in our community who can least afford it.
'Anyone with information about drug offending, suspicious financial activities or the identification and location of proceeds of crime is urged to contact Police by phoning 105, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
'We encourage anyone affected by drug addiction to seek help through the Alcohol and Drug Helpline on 0800 787 797, or free text 8681.”

There should be a charge of unlawfully modifying a weapon as well. To the NZ Police - THANK YOU. Your Intel and proactive approach to hammering these gangs and wannabes is really appreciated. Thank you for helping make NZ a safer place. Now we just need the Justice System to back you up.
Law change

Unfortunately in this country, if there is a law change regarding any criminal charge “concurrently” needs to be removed from the equation. Only then will justice be served.
Gang-Free NZ

Why not just rid the NZ of gangs full-stop? As it appears the gangs are given free range to do as they please whenever they please time and time again, without serious consequence handed out by the judicial system. The System is a joke!

You are SO right but unfortunately in today's society, and you and I and everyone else are a part of that, there's too many pathetic rights. A Gang-Free NZ? 100% with you. Run the thugs and mongrels out of the country. If every town and city of NZ stood up to them and said enough is enough they wouldn't gain any chance of keeping a foothold. The Police are doing a great job but the wannabe's and petty gang thugs need addressing severely as well. Don't even start me on their illegal bikes etc.
