Weekend of rugby – preview

The Arataki Black v Katikati match at Arataki Park will test the home side in every aspect of their game.

The high flying Arataki number one side will play a Katikati side determined to win their way back to division one, after dropping out earlier this season.

The unbeaten Arataki side, currently sitting on the top of the table, will be able to draw on all the club's resources after withdrawing the club's second side from the competition this week.

At home, Tauranga Sports stand in the way of Matakana Island's hopes of playing in the Bay-wide competition.

A loss for the Island will not make it impossible, but it will mean the clubs' chances of a Bay-wide championship and promotion to division one next season will rely solely on other teams' results.

Tauranga Sports are second on the table and will be equally determined to stay there and keep their hopes of playing for the Seeka Western BOP Title in four weeks' time.

Mount Maunganui has given up their home ground advantage and will travel to Te Puke and be part of the Rangiuru's celebrations.

Rangiuru open their new home ground at Centennial Park this weekend with the Rangiuru v Mount clash, followed by a top of the table division one clash between Rangiuru and Paroa.

Papamoa will travel to Maharaia Winiata Park to take on Judea.

Both teams will be reviewing their tactics and player numbers after suffering red cards last week.

Te Puke Sport takes on Eastern Districts at Murray Salt Stadium tonight at 6:30pm.
