One person is trapped in a car following a crash in which the vehicle flipped over.
The crash is on State Highway 2 by Wolseley Road, north of Katikati.
A helicopter is being dispatched to the scene, according to Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern communications shift manager Craig Dally.
He says Fire have just arrived at the scene.
A police spokesperson says one person has sustained injuries and will be transported to hospital.
"The road will be reduced to one lane for a time and motorists are advised to expect delays."

Another crash and roll on our road. Some of our drivers don't deserve to hold a license. When is our authorities going to bring drivers up to standard before handing out licenses? Majority of the drivers don't have accidents yet they suffer the consequences of these idiots on the road. I was only an hour ahead of a big prang out east yesterday. Some 40 rescuers at the scene.
