8.40pm: The man who became stuck on a ledge in the Kaimai Range has been safely winched off by Land Search and Rescue.
Police called LandSAR after receiving a call for help from the man who had become stuck on a rock ledge off the Ngatamahinerua Track.

Earlier, 8.10pm Land Search and Rescue are on their way by foot to assist a person who has become stuck on a ledge in the Kaimai Range.
Police received a report at around 4pm of a person who was said to be stuck on a rock ledge off the Ngatamahinerua Track.
"He says he was heading for the Kauritatahi Hut and entered from Thompsons Track," says a Police spokesperson.
The Kauritataihi Hut is in the central part of the Kaimai Mamaku Conservation Park, about 1.5 hours south from the junction of Thompsons Track and the North South Track. A marked and signposted track leaves the North South track and leads to the hut.
Police called LandSAR which has people walking in to assist.
