Delays are expected around the Tauranga CBD this weekend with roads being closed for the annual One Love Festival.

Dubbed one of the biggest music festivals in New Zealand, One Love is expected to have almost 20,000 people attend.

'We are excited once again to bring a huge calibre of local and international acts to One Love, we can't wait to show our festival-goers what we have in store,” says Pato Entertainment event organiser Pato Alverez.

One Love operates over two days on February 6 and 7 at the Tauranga Domain. Gates open at 11am.

Road closures will be in place to ensure safe pedestrian access to the event from 12am Saturday, February 6, to 6am Monday, February 8.

Those road closures are as follows:

-Cameron Road from Brown Street to Wharf Street.

-Durham Street from Wharf Street to Harington Street.

-Hamilton Street from Willow Street to the end Hamilton Street West.

-Harington Street from Willow Street to Cameron Road.

-Park Street from Cameron Road to Willow Street.

-Monmouth Street from Cameron Road to Willow Street.

-McLean Street from Cameron Road to Willow Street.

-Park Street from Willow Street to Cliff Road.

-Cliff Road from Brown Street to Park Street.

-Mission Street from Chapel Street to Cliff Road.

'Resident access will be maintained throughout the event. Please expect increased foot traffic in the city centre on the weekend,” says a Tauranga City Council spokesperson.

The One Love Festival will provide music that will be audible beyond the venue and for this reason the hours of operation are restricted to 10.30pm on Saturday, February 6, and 10pm on Sunday, February 7.

"A Noise Management Plan has been submitted and approved as part of the resource consent process," says council.

"As part of this a robust monitoring process has been put in place to monitor noise levels throughout the event."

One Love Festival's consent permits amplified noise during the following times:

  • Saturday, 6 February 2021 - 12noon–10.30pm
  • Sunday, 7 February 2021 - 12noon–10pm

Sound checks from 10am–11am daily

Full details about the event including hourly noise monitoring updates are available on twitter https://twitter.com/ @digital_satori and at www.tauranga.govt.nz/onelove

Waste management

The event organiser provided a Waste Management Plan which includes litter collection and cleaning throughout the event and surrounding streets, during and after each night of the event.

once again total disruption in the city. these things should be at baypark plenty of parking and places to put tents. easy to get into and out of. the only ones benifitting from this closure are the pubs downtown

The pubs will certainly benefit and the dying CBD will too. That's no bad thing. But I agree with you that Baypark would be a much better venue or even the TECT Adventure park... People will still come into town for supplies and patronize the local shops and bars.
