Update 10.30am: A house fire in Te Puke has been extinguished by firefighters.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern fire communications shift manager Paul Radden says there is still one appliance at the property on No 4 Road dampening down hot spots.

He says they recieved confirmation that it was extinguished at around 9.30am this morning.

Earlier: Firefighters are battling a house fire in Te Puke this morning.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern fire communications shift manager Paul Radden says the house was "well involved" when crews arrived this morning.

Firefighters are Te Puke and Maketu arrived at the single storey dwelling fire on No 4. Road at 6.55am.

"There are no people reported to be inside."
