Veterans' golf

Not wanting to survive without their obligatory weekly dose of golf, 35 players turned up for an informal Easter Haggle organised by Rodger Bagshaw.

Women's golf - 18 holes

Even though there was no formal competition on Saturday, April 3 because of the Easter holiday break, ten players turned up for a stableford haggle. Results; Carol Leary 37 points; Susan Mustard, Kathy Ashton 35; Kaylene Croker 34; Shoneen Dunning 33; Bev Ireland 30.

We will remember these lovely balmy golfing days when it is cold, wet and windy, and it could not have been much better on Wednesday, April 7 for a raft of competitions: LGU2, Karl Wilson Buttons, Lowrie Cup par, and qualifying for the national teams event, from which the four best scores will form a team to represent Waihi to compete against all other Clubs in the Bay of Plenty District Association.

The winning scores of all District Associations in the country will be assessed at national level to determine the winner. It is a very important event, and an honour to be part of the team. Waihi's team will be announced in due course.

Nine hole golf

With a number of competitions to get through on Tuesday, April 6 it was exceptionally busy for the Nine- Holers and fortunately the weather was perfect for golf. (It nearly always rains on a Tuesday).

Division 1 and 2 ladies played the second round of LGU Nett, Division 1 participated in the New Zealand national Homelinks competition, and everyone was included in the putting competition, won by Lorraine Meyer with 14 putts.

Division 2 - Barbara Schrider 35, Margaret Meldrum 37, Diane Smith 38.
