What's on today?

Meet local Maori tourism operators today at the Mount Maunganui Camping ground from 1.30pm – 3.30pm. Come and have a chat to learn about what they do and where they do it. A new organisation is being set up to establish a cultural tourism footprint in Tauranga. Te Whanau Tapoi Maori ō Tauranga Moana – an incorporated society currently representing 14 Maori tourism operators will be launched this afternoon. More information here

Katiatki Lions are holding their monthly garage sale this morning at the containers behind Caltex, Main Rd. Come along and found indoor and outdoor furniture, electrical and household goods, tools, books and more, while supporting local community organisations. Katikati Lions Garage Sale runs from 8am – 11am.

The Greerton Hall Market is on today from 8am – 12pm at the Greerton Hall, Cameron Rd. There are indoor and outdoor stalls selling all types of crafts, plants, as well as bric-a-brac. The hall kitchen is open for breakfast and hot and cold drinks.

The inaugural Omokoroa Market is happening today at the Omokoroa Settlers Hall. Come along for arts and crafts, coffee cart, plants, second-hand and pre-loved items, produce and a barbecue. For more click here

It's inflatable madness at Otumoetai Pool today from 11am – 2pm. Have you got what it takes to cross the giant inflatable in one run? Test your ninja warrior skills every day of the school holidays. Entry is $6.

The School Holidays Art Classes at the Pop-Up Art Gallery are for children aged 8-14yrs and are being run from 10am until 12noon from April 21 - 24 and then again from April 27 – 30. For more information click here

Take a walk through Tauranga Art Gallery and view the many exhibitions on display there this week, including the entries in the Acorn Foundation Youth Art Awards. The gallery, in Willow St, is open from 10am - 4pm.

Mike Garner and Warren Houston are playing this evening at The Barrel Room from 7pm – 10pm. Come along for some Barrel Room Blues. A multi-instrumentalist, Mike plays acoustic, electric and resonator guitars, harmonica and occasionally mandolin and other stringed instruments too. He will be accompanied by Warren Houston, on percussion, featuring washboard, cajon, djembe, and other percussion instruments.

Kutu Mukherjee

Come along to Rhythm & Raga at The Jam Factory in 17th Ave at 7pm and enjoy a medley of Indian Tagore songs by Kutu Mukherjee along with a recital of Tagores' poems in English. The main attraction will be erstwhile Dr Chintamani Rath on violin, accompanied in Tabla by wellknown percussionist Sanjay Dixit.
