Today has been the coldest morning in New Zealand so far, reports WeatherWatch.co.nz
Some locations in the South Island recorded -7C.

6am Temps:
- Twizel as at 6am is on -7 degrees! Staggering for April, these temperatures are more associated with June, July and August!
- Mount Cook: -4
- Lake Tekapo: -5
- Burke's Pass: -5
- Fairlie: -4
Incredibly, at 7:40am, Fairlie was even colder at -6C.
Single digit temperatures have also been recorded in Tauranga, with 6C, 7C, and 8C being observed around the city.
WeatherWatch is reporting that it is currently 10C in Tauranga, with a high of 15C being forecast.
An overnight low of nine is expected tonight,
