Crowds are flocking to the Tauranga Home Show at Trustpower Arena Baypark this weekend for its huge 22nd show.

With more than 325 exhibitors spread across two halls, there is plenty of home and lifestyle businesses and services to browse, compare and draw inspiration from.

From dream kitchens, window tinting, container gardening, fountains, paving, timber kitchens, balustrades, insulation, household tools, wall art, smart solutions, pools and many more, there's something for everyone.

Some of the exhibitors include Caleys Blinds, Amazing Spaces, Poolwerx, Insulmax, SkySolar, Venluree, Naked Meats, and Dream Doors Kitchens. Action Equipment, Husquarna and garden services can be found at the entrance with plenty of outdoor equipment to look at.

The show is proudly and locally owned and operated by Bay Events which was established in 1995 by Raewyn and Graeme Martin and has since put on over 60 trade shows.

Their daughter Dana joined Bay Events in 2011, and recently son Richard also joined the team, creating a truly family business.

'Being locally owned and operated means we're able to work with community groups,” says Dana. 'We feel very fortunate to have a hand in helping grow our community.”

Over each day of this year's show, which began on Friday, Kiwi household names in cooking are bringing their expertise live to the BespOak live cooking theatre. Yesterday was Annabelle White, today is Mark Southon at noon and 2pm, and on Sunday Peta Mathias will be delighting audiences.

The Tauranga Home Show is supporting the Waipuna Hospice again this year. The show has grown together with exhibitors and suppliers, with some current exhibitors on board since the first Tauranga Home Show took place at Mount Action Centre in 2000, later moving to what is now Trustpower Baypark.

'The creation of the Baypark venue was a real step up for Tauranga,” says Graeme. 'Single-level with huge carparks and multiple loading zones, it's one of the most workable event venues in the country.”

Every adult ticket into the show also gives an entry form to enter the draw for a huge door prize. There's also a kids entertainment area on Saturday and Sunday with face painting, bouncy castle, and balloon twisting.

Stop for lunch at The Landing Food Truck Hub, with a range of local food trucks and plenty of seating.

Seeing the large numbers of people visiting the show this morning, it's clear that even in today's digital age, exhibition-style marketing is strong and growing.

'Face to face marketing and dealing with real people is still key, it's become even more relevant,” says Dana. 'People are happy to buy online, but when making big investments for your home you want to look your supplier in the eye.

'At a home show, suppliers put themselves directly in front of customers, and as organisers we make that process an enjoyable one for everybody.”

Visitors to the show can take advantage of exclusive show specials and giveaways they won't find anywhere else.

Entry to the Tauranga Home Show at Trustpower Arena Baypark is by door sales only – adults $10, and children 13 and under are free. Doors are open from 10am to 5pm today Saturday May 8, and 10am to 4pm Sunday May 9.
