Fire crews have responded to an incident at Tauranga Airport.

Details are limited but SunLive has been told that people have been evacuated from a plane.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand confirm they have been on the scene at the airport.

'We have been on the scene at Tauranga Airport regarding an incident on a plane,” says northern fire communications shift manager Mark Richards.

'All our units have now been stood down and it is in the hands of Crash Fire.”
