While two sides that will fight out the Seeka KI Western BOP Rugby championship next weekend have been found – there is still plenty to play for this Saturday.

Tauranga Sports and Katikati have skipped clear at the top of the standings and cannot be overhauled in the last round of preliminary play on Saturday.

Tauranga Sports need to beat Papamoa to book a home final, however if they fall at the last hurdle, a Katikati victory over Te Puna will give them the home ground advantage.

Also at stake are the Baywide playoffs berths that accompany the Western Bay preliminary rounds.

Tauranga Sports and Mount Maunganui second teams have both earned places in the Baywide Senior Reserve playoffs in July.

However, the Baywide Division Two places will be finalised this weekend.

By finishing in the top two Katikati has automatically qualified for this years Baywide Div Two title race, however the second spot is still on the line in this weekend's play.

The formbook suggests that Arataki will take the second spot, but they must defeat Rangiuru to guarantee a Baywide place.

If Arataki are beaten, a Matakana Island victory against Rangataua would propel the Island team to the playoffs.

In other encounters, Judea will host Mount Maunganui at Maharaia Winiata Park, with the visitors heavily favoured to post the victory points, while Eastern Districts and Greerton Marist should have a good battle at the Paengaroa Domain.
