The auction aims to raise money for the Tauranga Model Aircraft Club and has been running for a decade now and is an exciting time for creators and buyers.

Classic Flyers retail sales manager Garry Bentley says the auction means everyone gets some incredible bargains.

'You get to see some incredible models that a worth thousands of dollars being sold for hundreds of dollars and its really quite impressive.

'It turns out to be a busy day every year.”

Around 150 people from all over the country attend this annual event hoping to get their hands on some bargains.

'Anybody can come along and partake in it. All you need to bring along is a gold coin donation,” says Garry.

'A lot of the time, it's members of the public that end up purchasing these models as they just can't resist.”

Classic Flyers also host a sausage sizzle during the auction and the museum and café remain open as well.

The auction is open to bid or to just come along and watch.

The auction gets underway at 8.30am on June 13.

Sellers are required to register with the Tauranga Model Aircraft Club before the event.
