Police seek man in relation to Operation Equinox

UPDATED: The 26-year-old man being sought by Police in relation to Operation Equinox is now in custody.

He was wanted in relation to the recent National Organised Crime Group operation targeting users of the encrypted Anom phones.

As part of the operation, 35 people have been arrested and are facing around 900 charges relating to serious drug dealing and money laundering offences.

The man is scheduled to appear in Hamilton District Court on July 12.

EARLIER: Police are still seeking a 26-year-old man in relation to the recent National Organised Crime Group operation targeting users of the encrypted Anom phones.

As part of the operation, 35 people have been arrested and are facing around 900 charges relating to serious drug dealing and money laundering offences.

Earlier this month, police seized $3.7 million in assets as well as 20 ounces of methamphetamine, large bags of cannabis, multiple kilograms of iodine, four firearms, 14 vehicles including two marine vessels, a number of mobile phones, and more than $1 million in cash.

Police are continuing to search for people in relation to the operation.

In a statement released this afternoon, police say they are looking for Ricky MacFarlane, who has links to the Hamilton area.

A 24-year-old man also wanted in relation to Operation Equinox is now in custody.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of MacFarlane is asked to contact Police on 105 and quote Operation Equinox, file number 201016/5636.
