Car and truck crash near Kaimai Summit

UPDATED 5pm: State Highway 29 near the Kaimai summit is now clear after a crash involving a car and a truck.

A police spokesperson says, traffic management is in place and the blockage is confined to one of the passing lanes.

They say ambulance did not attend.

EARLIER 3:59PM: Police have confirmed a motor vehicle accident on State Highway 29.

They state the crash occurred at around 3.20pm and involved a car and a truck.

'Ambulance has been notified but it's unclear if there are any serious injuries of note,” says a Police spokesperson.

'Looks like at least part of the road is blocked at this stage, but still determining that.”

The crash is said to have happened about 500m from Hanga Road.

EARLIER 3.26PM: Reports are coming in of a crash on State Highway 29.

SunLive readers have reported seeing multiple emergency services heading out along the highway.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says a logging truck and car have crashed.

"The lane heading from Tauranga to Waikato is blocked. Traffic is heavy."

According to Google's Live Traffic Reporting, there are delays on the highway, near the Kaimai Summit.
