There is a heavy rain warning in place for the Bay of Plenty east of Whakatane and the ranges of Gisborne.

MetService are forecasting showers turning to rain by midday, then heavy rain during the afternoon, but clearing in the evening. Expect strong northerlies, with gales gusting 90 km per hour in exposed places, turning northwest and easing in the evening.

It's a two-clothing-layer day with an expected high of 18 degrees, and an overnight low of 13 degrees. High tide is at 12.35pm and low tide at 6.36pm. Sunset is at 5.17pm.
