A tree that has come down on Wairoa Rd is reported to be over power lines.

A SunLive reader reports that a large tree has toppled over on Wairoa Rd, between State Highway 2 and Oliver Rd.

One lane is blocked with traffic management in place.

There are 472 properties in Bethlehem that are without power. It is unknown if the power cut was caused by the tree falling in Wairoa Rd. Power is expected to be restored to the Bethlehem Properties by 6.21pm.

At the Waitui Reserve, a video filmed by Claire Rogers shows small waves breaking unusually high along the grass area bordering the Tauranga harbour shore at Te Puna.

High tide was at 12.35pm.
