The TECT Rescue Helicopter crew responded to 27 missions in the month of July.

The chopper was called to placed like Te Kaha, Waihi and Whangamata over the month of July, providing rapid medical care to patients in need

Of the 27 missions, eight rescue missions were completed, eight inter-hospital missions were carried out, eight missions were for medical events/conditions and three motor vehicle accidents were attended to.

On Saturday, July 10, the TECT Rescue Helicopter crew attended to a young male patient in Whangamata who had sustained a broken collar bone following a mountain biking accident, says a spokesperson for the rescue chopper.

"The patient was flown to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.

"In the morning of Sunday, July 11, the TECT Rescue Helicopter crew responded to a motor vehicle accident in Waiotahe, a rural community in the Bay of Plenty region.

"The patient, a female in her twenties, had sustained spinal injuries and was flown to Middlemore Hospital for treatment."

In the evening of Wednesday, July 14, the TECT Rescue Helicopter attended to a male teenage patient who had sustained burns on a farm near the Waihi area. The onboard crew flew the patient to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.

In the early morning of Thursday, July 15, the TECT Rescue Helicopter crew responded to a call out to Te Kaha, in the Bay of Plenty region, for a male patient in his sixties suffering a medical event. The patient was transported to Whakatane Hospital for further assessment and treatment.

A motor vehicle accident involving a truck and several cars saw the rescue helicopters working together to provide a rapid response for patients in need.

In the afternoon of Thursday, July 15, the TECT Rescue Helicopter, Greenlea Rescue Helicopter and Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter responded to the accident near Thames.

Three patients that had sustained multiple injuries required transportation to hospital. Two were flown to Middlemore Hospital and one was flown to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.
