UPDATED 7.43AM: State Highway 29 over the Kaimai Range is being closed this morning.
The closure is to allow contractors work to remove containers which have fallen from a truck this morning.
"Diversions will be put in place soon," say a police spokesperson.
Several containers have fallen off a truck and are blocking the westbound lane, roughly five-hundred metres south of the summit.
Witnesses report that ICB's have fallen off a truck on both sides of the road, on the Matamata side of the summit.
