Covid-19: 29 new community cases

A total of 29 new Covid-19 community cases are being reported today.

The Ministry of Health says 28 are in the Auckland region, and one is in Waikato.

Two Covid cases have also been identified at the border.

In a statement released this afternoon, the MOH says today's cases brings the total number to 1357 in the current community outbreak.

The Ministry reports that 30 people are in hospital with the virus. Three are in North Shore Hospital, 13 are in Middlemore, 13 are in Auckland and one is in Waikato Hospital.

Five people are in ICU or HDU.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield are expected to address media at 4pm about alert level decisions.
