Bay students learn Chief skills

Bay of Plenty students are learning what it takes to become a Chiefs player during a school camp this week.

The Chiefs' Under 18 Secondary School Camp, being attended by 50 of the most promising Under 18 talent in the Chiefs' franchise, began today at St Peters School in Cambridge.

Bay of Plenty students are taking part in the Chiefs' Under 18 Secondary School Camp in Cambridge this week.

The rising stars will be exposed to the full force of the Chiefs' franchise coaching teams and Chiefs' head coach Dave Rennie, along with assistant coach Wayne Smith, will assist with the specific coaching modules during the camp, including a full range of topics, from hands on skills training to pre-match preparations and player professional development.
Chiefs' franchise ITM Cup head coaches Tama Umaga, Kevin Schuler and Chris Gibbes are also on hand to impart their coaching knowledge.

The camp participants will visit a Chiefs' training with the course leaders, and then receive a conducted tour of the Waikato Stadium, where they will gain an understanding of the Chiefs' proud history.

The camp will conclude with the students attending the Chiefs v Crusaders match at Waikato Stadium on Friday, July 6.

Bay of Plenty Rugby Union Chiefs' Under 18 secondary schools selections from the Bay of Plenty are:

Mount Maunganui College: Daniel Kayes
Tauranga Boys College: Lars Morrice, Carlin Tata, Dan Hollinshead, Aiden Ross, Joel Draffin, Carlos Savage and Caleb Aperahama.
Rotorua Boys High School: Ryuben Vaipo, Te Toiroa Tahuiorangi, Isaac Te Aute, Mason Walker, Eru Wano and Rudi Mose.
