There is one new case of Covid-19 being reported in the Bay of Plenty today.
People in the Bay of Plenty are urged to get a test if they are symptomatic or have been advised to by a health professional.
A ministry of Health spokesperson says in regards to the positive Covid-19 case that visited a Tauranga retirement village, one close contact has been identified and their initial test result is negative.
'This situation continues to be closely managed by the Public Health Unit.
'There is good testing capacity across the region with dedicated community testing centres in Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Whakatāne and Murupara,”
Including the new Bay of Plenty case, there are 215 cases of Covid-19 throughout the country today.
Of these cases, 196 are in Auckland, 11 in the Waikato, four in Northland, one in the Bay of Plenty, two in the Lakes and one in the Mid Central region which was announced on Monday.
There are 88 people in hospital throughout New Zealand today, and six of these people are in ICU or HDU units.
'Sadly, today we are reporting the COVID-19-related death of a patient at Auckland City Hospital,” says the spokesperson.

'Our thoughts are with the patient's whānau and friends at this deeply sad time," they say.
