Christchurch Police are investigating the suspicious death of a woman in Burwood this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Hill says emergency services were called to an address in Travis Road at approximately 10.15am.

"The body of a woman has been located inside the house at the address,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Hill.

"At this stage we are treating the death as suspicious, and a scene examination has been commenced at the property.

"Police are providing support to family members."

No further information is available at this time.
