Relocating Brown Kiwis, space science and educational resources are among the many projects supported by Mazda Foundation's latest round of funding.
More than $108,000 was gifted to 31 individuals and organisations across the country.

Tauranga-based The Incubator Growing Art and Culture Charitable Trust are on the 31 recipients to receive funding.

The trust received a grant of $3908 to purchase sewing machines to help run a series of workshops including clothing repair days to learn mending techniques and community workshops to make sustainable period wear.

The Incubator Growing Art and Culture Charitable Trust business and relationship coordinator and Māori liaison Ayesha Kee says The Incubator weaves the arts into the fabric of Tauranga City by generating opportunities for participation, knowledge and education while demonstrating the importance of arts practice in everyday life.

'We are a tangible example of the positive power that artists and art organisations can contribute to community connectedness, human well-being and belonging.

'We champion the arts on and behalf of our arts community, telling our stories through art and enriching lives within our communities through creative experiences.”

Mazda Foundation chairman David Hodge says the foundation is grateful they are in a position to be able to give back to people and organisations in the community to enable them to continue their remarkable work.

'We are so proud to be able to provide equipment and assistance educational resources for the next generation,” he says.

The Mazda Foundation runs three rounds of funding to help Kiwis in need.

It is funded through a contribution from the sale of every new Mazda in New Zealand, with more than $4 million being gifted back to the community since its inception in 2005.
