Holiday reminder
"No one wants to get Covid-19 (or any other illness) for Christmas, so we're asking everyone to play their part to reduce the spread of the virus," says a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health.
"Anyone with any symptoms that could be Covid-19, is asked to get a test, and stay at home until they receive a negative result and are feeling better."
Testing locations nationwide can be found on the Healthpoint website.
"People who are out and about today are asked to wear a mask and maintain physical distance in crowded or poorly ventilated indoor spaces and scan in using the Covid-19 Tracer app.
"The vaccine remains our key defence against all variants of Covid-19, including Omicron. We continue to ask everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated, including people who are now eligible for a booster dose.

BOP numbers creeping up...
Posted on 26-12-2021 13:23 | By morepork
There are two things working against us: 1. Frustration with the rules. People are sick and tired of it and, under those circumstances, it is easy to pretend things are normal and relax. I have observed gatherings that completely ignore it. It's sad, but understandable. 2. We need better vax (100%). Because of the mutations, this may be unattainable, even though work is proceeding to try and get more effective vax. If it is not 100%, this is an easy justification for not having it, even though it greatly reduces the risks. 2. There are still people who don't understand it and simply mistrust the Government. They justify their position as "Freedom Fighters". (Wrong at so many levels...) BOTTOM LINE: The only SAFE place is home. But this is pretty non-viable unless you ban visitors or can be sure that they are clear. Where's the fun in that?
